Project Background

A plastic recycling company near Warsaw, Poland, was expanding operations to process post-consumer LDPE and LLDPE film waste — primarily agricultural film and commercial shrink wrap — collected from municipal sources. They needed a robust primary shredder that could handle contaminated film without material wrapping issues, which had plagued their previous equipment.

Our Solution

Zhiyi Machine provided a ZSS-600 single shaft shredder as the primary size reduction stage:

  • ZSS-600 with 55 kW main motor and 600mm rotor diameter
  • Hydraulic ram feeder with automatic compaction control
  • 80mm screen mesh for controlled output sizing before washing
  • SKD-11 alloy blades with hardened cutting edges
  • Integrated soundproof enclosure for compliance with EU workplace noise regulations

The shredder was installed as part of a complete recycling line including washing, drying, and pelletizing equipment from other suppliers.

Results & Impact

  • Processing capacity: 1,200 kg/h of post-consumer film — exceeding the 1,000 kg/h target
  • Blade life: Over 5,000 tons processed before requiring first blade rotation
  • Material wrapping: Zero instances of rotor wrapping — a key improvement over the previous machine
  • Output consistency: 80% of output in the 40-80mm range suitable for downstream washing
  • Operating costs: Energy consumption of 38 kWh per ton — 15% below the previous shredder
